Let’s start with this tweet :
⚖️ A lawyer used ChatGPT and now has to answer for its ‘bogus’ citations
Lawyers representing passengers suing Avianca Airlines submitted a brief with citations to several court cases that did not exist.
The citations were generated by ChatGPT, an AI chatbot, which the lawyers used to supplement their legal research.
The opposing counsel pointed out the nonexistent cases, and a judge has scheduled a hearing to consider sanctions against the lawyers.
🎶 Deezer to detect AI-generated music clones
Music streaming service Deezer has launched a tool to detect and tag songs with AI-generated vocal clones.
The tool uses artificial intelligence to analyze the vocal patterns of songs and identify those that have been created using AI.
Deezer says the tool will help to protect the revenues of real artists whose work is being copied by AI.
🦅 Open-Sourcing Falcon LLM
The Technology Innovation Institute (TII) in Abu Dhabi has open-sourced Falcon LLM, a large language model (LLM) with 40 billion parameters.
Falcon LLM is now available for research and commercial use, and TII is calling for proposals from the global research community and SME entrepreneurs to submit use cases for the model.
Falcon LLM is a significant step forward in the development of AI, and its open-sourcing is a major contribution to the global AI community.
🗳️ Optimizing Matrix Multiplication
Matrix multiplication is executed so often in deep learning, video games, and scientific computing that even a slight acceleration can save substantial amounts of processing time. New work finds ways to speed up this crucial operation.
Alhussein Fawzi and colleagues at DeepMind developed AlphaTensor. This reinforcement learning agent discovers algorithms that multiply matrices faster than those previously developed by humans.
This work shows deep learning’s potential for synergy between humans and machines: People supply an algorithm (such as matrix multiplication) and AI accelerates its runtime.
