🚘 Predicting Traffic Crashes Before They Happen
MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) and the Qatar Center for Artificial Intelligence developed a deep learning model that predicts a high-resolution crash risk maps. Fed on a combination of historical crash data, road maps, satellite imagery, and GPS traces, the risk maps describe the expected number of crashes over a period of time in the future, to identify high-risk areas and predict future crashes.
🧩 Novel Machine Learning Technique To Identify Structural Similarities and Trends in Materials
The novel ML approach can create similarity projections via machine learning, enabling researchers to search an unstructured image database for the first time and identify trends. The results: they were able to group similar classes of material together and observe trends, forming a basis by which to start to understand structure-property relationships.
🖨️ MIT Uses AI To Accelerate the Discovery of New Materials for 3D Printing
A new data-driven system that accelerates the process of discovering new 3D printing materials that have multiple mechanical properties
🚚 Dubai’s self-driving delivery vehicle to be first deployed in Downtown to deliver goods
The vehicle will deliver goods from retailers on its own without human intervention. The multi-sensor fusion sensing scheme based on deep learning provides redundancy guarantee under the premise of ensuring accuracy. It can identify pedestrians, motor vehicles, non-motor vehicles, roadblocks, lane lines, traffic lights, etc.
🧑💻 UAE: Samsung announces free new online artificial intelligence course
Registration open until November 7, seats limited
🦴 Using AI to probe the dawn of animal life
This new project aims to create a computer algorithm – Scene-aware Perception Automation using Composite Embedding for Segmentation (SPACESeg) – that can find signs of life like these microbial mats.
🚴Dubai to deploy artificial intelligence tech to identify cyclists riding without helmets
Further trend analysis will allow the collected data to predict and prevent critical cycling incidents like crowded tracks and accidents, and alert authorities of increased risk conditions based on the collected data.
🫂 Worried your surveillance system is biased?
Researchers with Australian National University, Tencent, and Imperial College London, have built a large-scale facial recognition dataset which is meant to help reduce bias from facial upsampling. The Dataset contains 1.7 million pictures, aims to be diverse.
🧑🏫 New Kaggle Course about Time Series!
Do you want to learn the basic of time series in Machine Learning? Kaggle has released a short cours (5h max) about time series. Kaggle's courses are an excellent way to get a first step in tough subject.
💬 These Deepfake Voices Can Help Trans Gamers
Players of online games can be harassed when their voices don't match their gender identity. Massachusetts-based Modulate offers a voice-masking tool to forestall harassment of people, particularly women and trans individuals, whose vocal tone may trigger abuse in online conversations.
